This bespoke floating stone staircase in Kensington, London, was designed and made as a luxurious centrepiece for a high-end private apartment. Set between large glass windows and two small courtyards, the staircase connects the ground floor to the first floor and adjoining bridge, creating a seamless architectural link within the home.
Made from solid limestone, this curved staircase combines structural innovation with refined craftsmanship. Its dramatic 180-degree bend was, at the time of installation, quite possibly one of the tightest curved post-tensioned stone staircases achieved, making it a remarkable example of advanced stone staircase design in London.
The elegant solid stone staircase is paired with a bespoke solid brass balustrade in a bronze finish, adding warmth, contrast, and a strong sense of luxury. The result is a truly exceptional luxury staircase that brings together architecture, engineering, and specialist stonemasonry.
This project demonstrates Carvero’s expertise in designing and creating bespoke stone staircases, floating stone staircases, and post-tensioned stone staircases for exceptional homes in London and beyond.
