This free-standing spiral stone staircase was created for deVOL’s Cotes Mill showroom in Leicestershire — the home of one of Britain’s most respected design-led kitchen and furniture brands.

As Carvero’s first free-standing spiral staircase, the project became an important signature design for us. deVOL selected the staircase to form part of their carefully curated showroom environment, where craftsmanship, proportion and material character are central to the experience of the space.

The staircase was hand-carved from natural stone and developed as a sculptural architectural feature rather than a standard stair. Its quiet strength lies in the balance between precision and softness: the flowing spiral form, refined edge details and carefully resolved geometry all contribute to a design that feels calm, elegant and permanent within the interior.

The project went on to receive recognition at the Stone Federation Natural Stone Awards, marking an important moment in Carvero’s development as a specialist in bespoke spiral stone staircases and complex architectural stonework.
